This is to inform the general public that National Youth Council of Nigeria Ahiazu Mbaise Branch in partnership with Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Council has commenced registration for their 1st phase theoretical and practical training on vocational manufacturing skill. This program emerged during the interactive visit of the Chairman/Coordinator of NYCN Ahiazu Mbaise Branch (Comr. Uchech'ukwu Wisdom O.) to the SolAd of Ahiazu Mbaise LGA (Chief Engr. Tony Anakani) in his office recently.  According to the Chairman, the training is important in driving economic growth of our area through skills acquisition. He said: “during the first phase of the Program, about five hundred unemployed youths will be trained and empowered with start up kits.” However, every individual either a prospective leader or business personnel, must relentlessly strive to acquire the skills that will make him or her a great leader or a successful businessperson, as the case may be. We therefore urge all uns...

HAPPY 62ND INDEPENDENCE

De Norsemen Kclub International wishes all Norsemen and all Nigerians a resounding happy sixty second independence anniversary. We know that as a nation, we have not got to where we are supposed to be but we are still grateful to God that we, as an independent entity have not collapsed. De Norsemen Kclub International is happy that the country is still one but we are sad that we have not got it right in many facets of our national existence. That is why it looks as if we have independence without freedom. It is very unfortunate that we still bear our chains of anguish at this period of our independence as evident in the total collapse of security, leadership, infrastructure as well as massive looting, corruption, among others.  At this period, the citizens are disoriented, and frustration has remained the order of the day. It is noteworthy to state that no nation gets any form of commitment from disheveled and frustrated citizens. De Norsemen Kclub International, as a humanitarian ...

Doyin Okukpe Analogy of Titanic and Nigeria

Doyin Okukpe made an analogy on Arise TV that has stuck in my mind since I heard it. It captures the disconnect between our rulers and the situation of the common Nigerian. He said that the Titanic was a big ship with many floors. There was so much luxurious at the top deck that the first class passengers could easily believe the story that it was unsinkable. The lower decks were packed with lower class people that weren't even counted when planning for lifeboats. When the titanic started sinking, water started filling up from under the ship, (the lower decks where the lower class were). While those in the lower floors were struggling and dying, those in the first class cabins on the higher floors had no idea that their end was nearby, they were making merry in the grand ballroom with champagne and fine dining, still living the lie that their ship was unsinkable. As the ship tilted and made irregular movements, they looked at all the luxurious fittings around them and despite all ...

THE STORY OF OLD MAXWELL OF UMUEGWU Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI

Slightly aged, he was so reticent and taciturn. He preferred to live in solitude. Scarcely looked up to see your face and overtly disinterested in what your duties and games were all about. He would seem to be unperturbed and very unconcerned about goings on in the community and his environment. We saw him walk down the seaside always with all solemnity and all reverence of calmness, he rarely looked at any faces. The particular wonder was his especial abandonment of all entreaties, pleasantries and cheers. As if he was already telling you to keep your greetings to yourselves; he never responded to any greetings. No matter how loud you greeted, old Maxwell never responded. Not even in the softest nod or wink. Never! I am very sure that many carefree young people will pass him for a deaf or dumb or both. Yes, and they would have allowed him go without bothering why he never responded to their greetings. Surely, they would have taken him for someone impaired in natural speech or some old...

MY DEMISE

Woke up to a cold morning. The sun slumbers during the day. Has it forgotten it’s duty? Oh sun, why watch me freeze to death? Stomach rumbles, abs scream hunger. Reminding me, not only is it a cold day It’s a poverty day too. The sun and government have team up to end me. Woke up in a cell,  Poverty stood as warden. Politicians have taken over my household and fields. They send me to the battle front like Uriah. With smiles, politicians promise better life. Behind smiles surfaces a mischievous grin. Only to enrich their pockets at my demise.  A means to an end for them I am. Perhaps when darkness falls, moon can give me hope. The sun has betrayed me. Shivering, stranded under the economic hurricane. No shelter from the rising tornado.
