COMPARISON BUILDS AN UNHAPPY MIND...

Image
I actually could not agree less. Some people poison themselves with trying to be like others or even compete with them. There is no competition in destiny. You have to understand that your destiny is a perfect one as no one can come into it and be better than you. Also if you leave yours and dabble into the next person's destiny, you can never be better than that person. Don't compare yourself with anybody and don't compete with anybody. From comparison comes competition, jealousy, frustration, strife, hatred and you become either a witch or a wizard. You know what? Comparison is indeed the thief of joy! Don't let it thief your joy right about now...

HOW TO TURN YOUR TALENT INTO A BUSINESS

If you are not caught in the frenzy of football then you are missing out. We support football clubs, players and teams. If it's not soccer its movies. I will watch any movie with Denzel Washington, Will Smith of Angelina Jolie. If you examine all your life activities, you will discover that you ae a consumer of great talents. Even as a builder of houses you consume a talent of cement manufacturing called Dangote. Your cell phone is someone's talent. The applications on your computer are talents. All of life is an ecumenical metropolis of trade and exchange of talents at a perceived value. The difference between poor people and rich people is their use of talents. What is stopping you from joining the trade or commerce? Starting a business around your talent is the cheapest form of venture capital. We have been brain washed to think that entrepreneurial activities require meticulous business plans with great market penetration strategies birthed at a place called Harvard or Lond...

POLITICS IS ALL ABOUT INTEREST!

Image
When I read or hear people say this as they have made it a commonsense cliché in everyday interactions, I have more reason to think in fears. Yes! Politics is a game of interest but sadly our people who say this are usually on the side of the negative import of this statement. This brings us to the challenge of solipsism in philosophical discourse where social realities are objects of discussion. Imagine a space where everyone plays by his or her own set rules. I am sure you will never disagree with me that it is simply the absolute definition of anarchy. The society is a child of conscious growth from individualism/Solipsism to subjectivism and relativism and from here to intersubjectivism and then to the destination of objectivism where all selves and inter-selves aggregate into a whole with rules for coexistence codified. When will our people think of politics as a game of public interest. The best way to define personal interest should and ought be that we individually live for a...

Pissing in the Air

Fifty one years since the first case of AIDS was recorded, ARV's and a self test AIDS Kit are all we've afforded; AIDS is such a concrete subject I reckon this is a major break through, because all possible cures have been regarded as somehow untrue; all cure stories have been shutdown for fear of major corporations being shutdown; they don't want me to talk about this, just look how they made Dr. Sebi kiss the ground. Another one bites the dust, come with iron clad evidence about an AIDS cure and watch just how it all turns to rust; alas! My peers condemned me for talking about Nipsey Hussle as if it is such a hustle that I should talk about the Cyclone Idai, why! I swear I shed tears because it is such a damn tragedy what happened to those people; but what Nip inspired in me could never be simple; that's why I gotta pay my respect. That I should have talked about Xenophobia but y'all just didn't read my poems, that's why you try to put me in a box despit...

THE BARE BONES OF LIFE

It’s 07:00hrs. Hastily the bus conductor makes us climb down the slow-moving bus in fear of being clamped by the guys from central police or RTSA. The lady in front of me had her black elastic skirt almost torn; when an old seat by the door stuck its rugged sharp edge at her thigh as if in refusal of letting her go. I throw one foot forward and another while pulling my backpack closer, white headsets loosely swing from my pocket as if pleading for me to let them fall. I reach at the corner of Southgate Mall. Where there is KFC. The road perpendicular to freedom way is congested; buses in their droves, are going in and coming out of Kulima tower bus station. But right at the corner is another form of life. Mothers with babies at their back, grannies, youths and boys all line up selling assorted pastry; pies, samosas, vitumbuwa and scorns in buckets with different coloured lids. With no luxury of sitting at the breakfast table at home, this corner presents me with a second chance to rede...

SPEECH DELIVERED BY THE GOVERNOR-ELECT OF IMO STATE, RT. HON EMEKA IHEDIOHA, AT THE INAUGURATION OF THE TRANSITION COMMITTEE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, 3RD APRIL, 2019

Image
ROTOCOLS. Mr Chairman, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, let me first give the glory of today to our Lord Jesus Christ as I welcome you to the inauguration of this very important committee. On 9th March this year, the people of Imo State voted overwhelmingly for us because they believe that we can give them good leadership. And with the elections over, the business of governance has to commence. Our people are eager, expectant and seem assured that we will be true to our words. I find this enthusiasm humbling and at the same time challenging. Your Excellencies, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, in the course of the campaign, we promised good governance while stimulating development in all sectors and across all the zones of our dear state. Having recognised that we cannot deliver on that promise without leveraging on the experiences, and expertise of the broadest possible diversity of Imo people, we are here today to inaugurate the transition committee that will h...
