NYCN AHIAZU MBAISE BRANCH HAD A HISTORIC TRANSITION OF CHARGE

In respect of the Senatorial Management Committee Meeting of NYCN held on 23rd December 2023 at Imo State Youth Center, whereby the management officially dissolved the 27 Local Government Executive Council (LEC) in Imo State, whom their tenure of office has long expired, thereafter Constituted Caretaker Committee (CTC) in these Local Government Areas, whereas the CTC were charge to conduct election within a specific period of six months.

   

On 25^th January 2024, by the conveyance of the Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Imo State Chapter Comr. Humphrey Osuji, the Ahiazu Mbaise Branch of NYCN has blazed the trial with a historic smooth and successful transition.  At the handover meeting, the immediate past Chairman of NYCN Ahiazu Mbaise Branch Comr. Uchech'ukwu Wisdom O. expressed joy and happiness for the peace and reconciliation of all factions that had set the NYCN backwards in Imo State. He further emphasized that he emerged at the hit of the resolved crisis, therefore assumed his tenure without foundational direction, which he said almost discouraged his team executive.

 

While delivering his handover note, Comr. Uchech'ukwu Wisdome thank the Almighty God for the lessons that was learnt during the crisis and he stated that "there's great joy when brothers wine and dine in the spirit of love to discuss the way forward of their family." He distinguished that "the days of brotherly fight, blackmailing and character assassination is over". The progressive Comrade brief on few challenges his team encountered during their tenure, especially the process of opening an official bank account for the Youth Council and the non willfulness attitude of some of political representatives. He explained that it took perseverance for him to achieve the lot he was about to handover.

 

Going forward, Comr. Uchech'ukwu Wisdom handed over the following assets/document to the present CTC Chairman Comr. Chimezie Onuoha.

1.     An office Secretariat with three offices and a reception

2.     A Youth recreation center with dual hall of about 600 sitting capacity and offices in it.

3.     A bank account Checkbook with a cash balance of #10,000. 

He assured that these assets/document he handed over is in order while he pledged readiness to clarify immediately Incase of any quarry from the present CTC Chairman. 

 

He further briefed on few past and ongoing partnership projects his team was able to achieve, worthy of note are:

• Youth Skill acquisition program, proposed in partnership with the local government Council (in process).
• Youth export development program in partnership with Nigerian Export Promotion Council (achieved).
• Movement for Good to end Female Gentile Mutilation in Nigeria, in sponsorship by unisef (achieved).
• Youth training on Peace building, mitigation, human rights and citizen journalism (eyewitness reporting), an EU SDGN II support project in sponsorship by SOS Children's Village (achieved).

v The Mbaise Global Sustainable Development Foundation in partnership with other Mbaise based civil society organizations (in process), the immediate past Chairman informed that he presently serve as the project coordinator of this project and promised to incorporate the present CTC into the upcoming foundation as soon as possible.

 

Comr. Uchechukwu Wisdom then briefed that the Council under his charge gave a meritorious award to the immediate past Sole Administrator of Ahiazu Mbaise LGA (Chief Tony Anakani). He Finally pledged to intellectually and otherwise support/assist the Youth Council in any progressive project any time he is consulted.

 

In acknowledgement of the assets/document handed of to the new CTC led by Comr. Chimezie Onuoha, the present CTC Chairman expressed appreciation to the great achievements of the immediate past Chairman, and promised that his CPC team will work with the past regime to achieve greater heights for the best interest of Ahiazu Mbaise Youths. In his speech, he stated that: “honestly the Youth Council should applaud Comr. Wisdom and his team because it is not easy for them to achieve the hole lot within the short period of their tenure and at the midst of the crisis that rocked the council.” He then introduced other members of his CTC and pledged that they will manage perfectly the assets handed over to them with diligent and also considerate on the foundation that is now in existence.

 

Comr. Vitus Ogbonna who was in entourage of the State Chairman on the capacity of the present State Organizing Secretary, while appreciating the immediate past LGA executive for their accomplishment, expressed his delight to have worked as a team with Comr. Uchechukwu Wisdom and to be part of the historic handover.

 

Comr. Sylvester Unuero who also was in entourage of the State Chairman under the capacity of the CTC Chairman of Owerri North and Chairman of all Chairmen in Imo State, congratulated Comr Chimezie Onuoha for his new appointment as the CTC Chairman of the National Youth Council Nigeria, Ahiazu Mbaise Branch, thereafter complimented  Comr. Uchechukwu Wisdom for the peaceful handover while magnifying his achievements so far in the Council.

 

The State Chairman Comr. Humphrey Osuji commended Comr Wisdom for his resourcefulness and expertise in realization of the great achievements so far. Down the line, Comr. Humphrey braked the information that the resourcefulness and democratic spirit exhibited by Comr. Wisdom has earned him an appointment as the Council Head of Directorate, Democratic and Good Governance, Imo State. He briefed that “the state governing committee, having acknowledged the integrity and doggedness of Comr. Uchechukwu Wisdom while he was an LGA Chairman, recognized him with the Directorate appointment, with a strong believe that he will deploy his intellectual wit to assess the performance of politicians in Imo State whereas he will report, recommend and advise on his Directorate designation where necessary.”

 

The State Chairman then congratulated Comr. Chimezie for his new appointment and encouraged him to be focused. He charged the present CTC team to continue to put great effort, energy and wisdom to work and revive  all youth affiliated organizations in Ahiazu Mbaise as soon as possible, while he acknowledged Comr. Chimezie's past achievements and State government recognition during his first appointment as the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria Ahiazu Mbaise Branch.

 

Other members in entourage of the State Chairman are: the State Director of Works Engr Patrick Ozoemena and the Owerri Zonal Social Secretary.

 

Conclusively, the present CTC chairman Comr. Chimezie gave vote of thanks to everyone in attendance for being part of this new beginning after which he proposed for an instant group familiarization visit to the Youth Council patron, Evang. Kelechi Kenneth Ihuoma at his residence.
