Governor Uzodimma Advocates for Consensus Candidate in APC Primaries

In a critical leadership meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held today, August 27th, 2024, Governor Hope Uzodimma emphasized the significance of unity within the party as a critical factor for success in the forthcoming polls.

During the meeting, Governor Uzodimma highlighted the importance of adopting a consensus approach in the party's primary elections, stating, "There are three constitutional ways to conduct primary elections: first is direct primary, second is indirect primary, and third is consensus candidate. In my own opinion, I choose consensus candidate."

He stressed that a consensus candidate approach would help mitigate internal disputes, streamline the candidate selection process, and strengthen the party's position ahead of the elections.

Furthermore, Governor Uzodimma assured that aspirants who are not selected through the consensus process will be refunded for their nomination forms and considered for appointments, provided they conduct themselves in an orderly manner during and after the harmonization process. This gesture is aimed at acknowledging their commitment to the party and encouraging them to continue working towards its success.

By adopting a consensus approach and offering refunds and potential appointments, the APC aims to promote party unity, reduce conflicts, and present a strong, united front in the upcoming elections.

Stay tuned for further updates as the APC continues to navigate its primary election process.
