COURTESY VISIT BY THE FORUM OF CPS/SA MEDIA AND PUBLICITY TO LGA EXECUTIVE CHAIRMEN TO THE CHIEF PRESS SECRETARY TO THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF IMO STATE, HON. OGUWIKE NWACHUKWU
As part of its strategic engagements to foster synergy and strengthen the dissemination of government policies and programs at the grassroots, a delegation of the Forum of Chief Press Secretaries and Special Assistants on Media and Publicity to the 27 Local Government Executive Chairmen in Imo State paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Governor, Hon. Oguwike Nwachuku on Wednesday, 18th June 2025.
The delegation, led by the State Coordinator of the Forum, Comr. Solomon C.J. Chimezie, was warmly received at the Government House, Owerri.
In his opening remarks, Comr. Solomon introduced the delegates and briefed the CPS on the purpose of the visit. He emphasized the critical need for accuracy, timeliness, and consistency in the dissemination of government programs at the local government level. He also reiterated the Forum's commitment to aligning with the vision of the 3R Government and the "Shared Prosperity" agenda of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Other members of the delegation took turns to commend Hon. Oguwike Nwachuku for his remarkable contributions to projecting the image and achievements of the Imo State Government. They collectively sought his mentorship, guidance, and strategic leadership in building a unified, effective, and results-driven grassroots media architecture that aligns with the central communication vision of the state.
Speaking on behalf of the CPSs from Hon. Oguwike's home LGA, Comr. Uchech’ukwu Wisdom O. (CPS to the Executive Chairman of Ahiazu Mbaise LGA), expressed deep appreciation for Hon. Oguwike’s unwavering commitment to promoting the image and policies of the Governor both within and beyond the state. He remarked:
“As CPSs serving at the grassroots level, we recognize your role as the central voice of this administration. We look up to your leadership for synergy and guidance as we strive to effectively communicate government policies to every ward and community across our LGAs.”
He further reaffirmed the Forum’s loyalty and commitment to the success of the 3R Government, and formally requested deeper collaboration through training and capacity-building seminars to enhance their effectiveness in media and public communication.
In his response, Hon. Oguwike Nwachuku warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed sincere appreciation for the initiative. He emphasized the importance of ethical reportage, urging CPSs to always uphold the values of truth, professionalism, and responsibility in the course of their duties. He noted that misinformation, distortion of facts, or personal bias must never override the collective objective of communicating the government’s development strides.
The CPS clarified that with the Local Government system now operating as autonomous entities, he views the Forum members not as subordinates, but as colleagues in the service of government communication. He promised to engage the ALGON Chairman to support the proposal for a collaborative media training seminar for the Forum.
Hon. Nwachuku concluded by assuring the delegation of his continuous partnership and support in line with the goals of the Shared Prosperity administration, pledging to work hand-in-hand with the Forum to ensure that the voice of government is heard clearly and credibly at the grassroots.
