Political conversations within the Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency have intensified in recent weeks, particularly following the entry of Rt. Hon. Emeka Chinedu into the All Progressives Congress (APC). While political debates are a healthy part of democracy, it is important that such discussions remain constructive, factual, and focused on the long-term interest of our people.

First, APC remains an open and inclusive political platform. Every individual who believes in the progressive vision of the party and the development agenda of government at both the state and national levels is welcome to participate in the party’s activities.

At the same time, democracy thrives on accountability. It is therefore natural that constituents ask questions about representation, legislative impact, and constituency development, especially as the 2027 election cycle gradually approaches. Such questions should not be mistaken for hostility. They simply reflect the people’s desire to assess the value of representation and the progress made within the federal constituency over the years.

Beyond individual political ambitions, there is also an important conversation quietly taking shape at the grassroots — the need for fairness, balance, and equity among the component blocs of Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency.

For many political observers within Ahiazu Mbaise, the issue of equitable political participation has become increasingly relevant. History shows that different blocs within the constituency have had opportunities to produce representatives at various times, which has helped maintain political stability and a sense of inclusion among the people.

Within this context, many grassroots stakeholders have begun reflecting on a notable historical fact: it has been over two decades since Ekwerazu bloc last produced the representative for Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency.

The last time Ekwerazu had that opportunity was through Hon. Tony Anyanwu, who represented the constituency approximately twenty-four years ago. Though he served only one term of four years, his tenure remains widely remembered for its legislative vibrancy and visible contributions.

During his time in the House of Representatives, Hon. Tony Anyanwu distinguished himself through active legislative engagement, sponsoring motions and contributing to debates that addressed national and constituency concerns. Some of his legislative initiatives and motions were subsequently inscribed into the records and legislative processes of the National Assembly.

His performance demonstrated an important lesson in legislative service: impact in parliament is not merely a function of the number of terms served, but of commitment, competence, and purposeful representation.

This historical reminder is increasingly resonating among grassroots party members who believe that equity and fairness remain essential ingredients for sustainable political harmony within the constituency.

Encouraging balanced participation across blocs does not diminish anyone’s contributions. Rather, it strengthens the collective sense of ownership among the people and promotes unity within the political space.

As APC continues to grow within Ahiazu/Ezinihitte, many party faithful believe that the coming political cycle provides an opportunity to deepen this spirit of fairness while also presenting credible and competent leaders capable of effectively representing the constituency.

At the same time, serving representatives still have the opportunity to consolidate their legacy by using the remaining period of their tenure to deliver tangible benefits to the people. Doing so will enrich the democratic process and strengthen the relationship between elected leaders and the grassroots.

Ultimately, the future of Ahiazu/Ezinihitte politics should not be driven by bitterness or personal battles. It should be guided by accountability, fairness, unity, and a sincere commitment to the development of our communities.

As the journey toward 2027 unfolds, the focus of APC members and stakeholders must remain clear: build the party, respect the spirit of equity among our people, and support leadership that reflects both competence and fairness.

The progress of Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency must remain our shared objective.

I am,

Comr. Uchech’ukwu Wisdom O. (DonWis)
