THE STORY OF OLD MAXWELL OF UMUEGWU Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI

Slightly aged, he was so reticent and taciturn. He preferred to live in solitude. Scarcely looked up to see your face and overtly disinterested in what your duties and games were all about. He would seem to be unperturbed and very unconcerned about goings on in the community and his environment. We saw him walk down the seaside always with all solemnity and all reverence of calmness, he rarely looked at any faces. The particular wonder was his especial abandonment of all entreaties, pleasantries and cheers. As if he was already telling you to keep your greetings to yourselves; he never responded to any greetings. No matter how loud you greeted, old Maxwell never responded. Not even in the softest nod or wink. Never! I am very sure that many carefree young people will pass him for a deaf or dumb or both. Yes, and they would have allowed him go without bothering why he never responded to their greetings. Surely, they would have taken him for someone impaired in natural speech or some old...

MY DEMISE

Woke up to a cold morning. The sun slumbers during the day. Has it forgotten it’s duty? Oh sun, why watch me freeze to death? Stomach rumbles, abs scream hunger. Reminding me, not only is it a cold day It’s a poverty day too. The sun and government have team up to end me. Woke up in a cell,  Poverty stood as warden. Politicians have taken over my household and fields. They send me to the battle front like Uriah. With smiles, politicians promise better life. Behind smiles surfaces a mischievous grin. Only to enrich their pockets at my demise.  A means to an end for them I am. Perhaps when darkness falls, moon can give me hope. The sun has betrayed me. Shivering, stranded under the economic hurricane. No shelter from the rising tornado.

OCTOBER 15: DNKI HUMANITARIAN DAY

Image
We have decided to set a mark of honour and  originality for ourselves as norsemen, because we know who we are, we know where we are coming from and we also know where we are heading to. Our goal is unambiguous, to serve humanity. There is nothing else that makes us who we are than working hard and anointing humanity with virtuous oil of hope and satisfaction. As an organization, our hearts bleed when we see the despondency and helplessness on the faces of humanity. Our hearts bleed when we see people oppressed for  the simple reason that they are weak and poor. Our hearts bleed when we see people without food, clothing and shelter. Our hearts bleed when children who should be in school are turned into hawkers, beggars, weapon bearers and war mercenaries. Our hearts bleed when humanity is shortchanged and weakened by injustice. We cannot fold our hands and watch humanity go down the drain. De Norsemen Kclub International has stepped out like never before to bring succou...

When Will Our Tomorrow Come?

By: Douglas Ogbankwa  Esq.   We are living in a Wasted Generation! -Prof.  Wole Soyinka. The Nigerian Youth are caught in between  the unfortunate mix of the complexities that clog our Society! The first of these complexities, is the obvious non recognition of the Nigerian Youth to play a prominent role in governmental processes! You find for instance, a Political Party, making a 61-Year- Old Man, their National Youth Leader, which is akin to making a Man, National Woman Leader. There seems to be a deliberate policy in place ,to short change the Nigerian Youth and restrict them to pedestrian roles. There also lies the acquiescence of the  Youth in accepting such second fiddle roles. As a Young Man, I read about the exploits of Femi Okunnu and Tayo Akpata of blessed memory's doggedness in stopping the Anglo-Nigerian Defence pact under the auspices of the then  National Union of Nigerian Citizens (NUNS), during the regime of Tafawa Balewa . We also ...

FRANK NWETE: WHEN A HOMOSEXUAL BECOMES A WOUNDED LION IN A JUNGLE OF SOUND ADVICE

RE: THAT MAN WILLIE AMADI, A CANCEROUS VULTURE THAT SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO GET CLOSE TO ANYONE ELSE ! By Dr. Alamezie Pius, OON An Igbo proverb has it that, "a mad man that dances on the road side, has a drummer nearby bush".  After reading an obviously sponsored article against Barr. Chief, Willie Amadi authored and syndicated to various social media platforms by one unknown Frank Nwaete, I knew that the chicken has come home to roast. In the said article by Frank Nwaete, Barr. Chief Willie Amadi whom I have known since 1982 when he was the District Sales representative of Nigerian Breweries Plc in Port Harcourt was called various names that does not in any stretch of imagination represent his person and I stand to be challenged. From the conclusion of the said jiration by Nwaete, one will easily understand that some individuals who cannot dare Barr Amadi are hiding under the cloak of a poor and jilted beggar, Frank Nwaete to pour venomous diatribes against his person. ...
